A therapist who truly wants to understand
I'm Natalie Eilat, LMFT, founder of Self & Together Family Therapy. My work is built around a question that has fascinated me for years: why can two people experience the same situation so differently?
The answer is rarely simple. We are shaped by our relationships and experiences, but we also enter those experiences as unique human beings — with different temperaments, sensitivities, ways of processing information, and nervous systems. Understanding both sides of that equation is central to how I approach therapy.
My approach
My clinical foundation includes Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), attachment and family-systems approaches, trauma-informed care, Play Therapy, and Polyvagal-informed work with nervous-system regulation.
But theories are maps. You are the person sitting in front of me. Therapy should fit the human being — not force the human being to fit the theory.
I want to understand how you experience the world, what your system has learned, what happens when you feel safe or threatened, and how those patterns affect the relationships that matter to you.
Why Self & Together?
The name represents something I believe deeply. Healthy relationships require both.
We need a Self — an understanding of who we are, what we feel, what we need, where our boundaries are, and how we naturally respond. And we need Together — the ability to understand another person, tolerate differences, create emotional safety, repair disconnection, and build meaningful relationships.
We shouldn't have to disappear in order to belong. And we shouldn't have to remain disconnected in order to remain ourselves. There can be room for both.
My professional background
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and have worked with individuals, couples, families, children, and people affected by complex trauma.
- Survivors of abuse and human trafficking
- Holocaust survivors and their families
- Intergenerational trauma
- Relationship distress and family conflict
- Children and families navigating difficult experiences
I provide therapy in English, Russian, and Hebrew, allowing many clients to speak about deeply personal experiences in the language that feels most natural to them.
I also bring an unusual perspective to this work from my earlier professional life in accounting and business. Years spent working in complex professional environments gave me another lens into stress, decision-making, responsibility, performance, and the ways people function under pressure.
Today, those different parts of my life come together in the work I care about most: understanding people and helping them understand one another.
