Gentle support for a more regulated and resilient you.
Trauma isn't defined only by what happened. It can also involve what happened inside you as your mind and body tried to survive, adapt, and protect you.
Sometimes the danger is over, but the protective system continues responding as though it might return.
Your nervous system learned to protect you
After difficult or overwhelming experiences, you may notice hypervigilance, emotional numbness, difficulty trusting, strong reactions to seemingly small events, avoidance, disconnection, anxiety, or a need to remain constantly in control.
Rather than asking “What's wrong with me?” trauma-informed therapy invites a different question: “What did my system learn it needed to do to protect me?” That shift can replace shame with understanding.
Healing doesn't mean erasing the past
We cannot change what happened. But we can work with the ways those experiences continue to live in your emotions, relationships, beliefs, and nervous-system responses.
My approach integrates attachment-based, trauma-informed, and Polyvagal-informed perspectives to help increase awareness of protective responses and support greater capacity for regulation, connection, and choice. We move at a pace that respects your experience. Healing isn't about forcing yourself to “get over it.” It's about helping your system discover that the present can become different from the past.
From survival toward connection
Protective responses deserve respect. They helped you survive something your system believed required protection. But survival doesn't have to remain the only way you know how to live.
With greater safety and understanding, there can gradually be more room for connection, flexibility, curiosity, and life.
Understand what protected you. Create safety for who you are now. Grow beyond survival.
